National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Canada
The Canadian government, in collaboration with Aboriginal communities across the country, conducted a detailed investigation of the residential school system (similar to the boarding school system) established to assimilate aboriginal children beginning in the 19th century. The reports produced by this organization detail the abuses children were subjected to and acknowledges Canadian efforts to erase Indigenous languages, cultures, and lifeways.
